This is a photo I took yesterday from the top of a tall mesa. I used the “panorama” feature on my phone, so this is actually more than an 180 degree view… though you would never be able to tell. It was so lovely to be there yesterday with a couple of my running group friends. It was breathtakingly beautiful, but the photo isn’t. The brown of winter in Colorado isn’t easily photographed. The monochrome sepia of a Colorado winter. Snow and the sky are the only relief.
Last night I went to my new church and actually dropped off my membership form. The deacon was so excited, he introduced me to several women, who were actually happy to meet me. I have been recruited for the St. Vincent De Paul Society. Sounds good to me!
Today I am sitting by the fireplace, watching a football game. I am looking for Dave in the stands, but he must not have a funny hat or costume on to draw the attention of the TV cameras. But I know he is there!
Later I will wrap gifts, wait for the snow to blow in, and cook whatever I can in advance of the two Christmas dinners I am making. I will focus on what I have, and not what I don’t have.
Even though there is all this hullabaloo, this holiday celebrates the birth of Christ to a humble young girl, so poor and “unimportant” that she had no where else to deliver her child but in an animal’s shelter. I am so grateful for not only the birth of Christ, but the reminder about what is really important. hint: it’s not money or prestige.
And while they were there, the time came for her to be delivered. And she gave birth to her first-born son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. — Luke 2:6-7

I am so glad you found a solution that works for you for the holiday dinner situation. I must get back into climbing my mountains…..I am yearning, but the feet of snow is a detrerrant. You are inspiring me to bundle up and head out!
A foot of snow is enough to keep anyone inside! Maybe you can wear good traction shoes and just go on the flat parts?
That sky looks stunning though. And the snow sounds really good because it looks like it will rain here on Christmas day and that the following day that we have the open house will be windy and rainy. It’s all okay. Have a good evening relaxing.
I really believe there is nothing like a blue Colorado sky. It more than compensates for the dreary brown – in my opinion.

I love that picture. Especially the telephone pole. Is it bent?
I WAS at the game, but not sure why. I could have stayed home and done my nails.
The pole was bent, but the picture makes it look more bent.
What happened to those Texans yesterday? It must have been hard to have been there.
