We have a new pope. He wears a wooden cross. One of the first decisions of his papacy was to not ascend the stairs to sit at the golden chair and receive the cardinals. He said he would just stay down with them. He was concerned about the people standing in the rain in St. Peter’s Square waiting for him, so he told people inside the Vatican to wait while he went outside to talk to the people.
He wears a wooden cross.
You are Peter, on this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. — Matthew 16:18-19
